Pushkar Camel Fair and Rajasthan Photo Tour

Starts and finishes in Delhi: Nov 9 - Dec 1 2015

A custom designed photographers journey to experience the real Rajasthan. Explore India’s most stunning cities, visit desert-dwelling nomadic tribes and shoot one of the world’s great cultural events with this off-the-beaten-track adventure. In Incredible India all your senses will be bombarded and amazing photo opportunities abound.

Fully Escorted by Mike Banks an AIPP accredited professional photographer with over 20 years of experience in travel photography. Mike immerses you in the local culture and landscapes and takes you to locations at the best time of the day like no other photography tour. As a result the images you will take away will be unique and visually striking.

Itinerary

Day 1                Delhi

Arrive at the hotel at 12pm - Welcome lunch – Photography workshop.

Day 2                Delhi

Old Delhi walking tour – night sleeper train to Jodhpur

Day 3-4             Jodhpur – The Blue City

Magnificent Mehrangarh Fort - Walking tour of the blue washed city - Visit the fascinating Bishnoi villages.

Day 5-7             Jaisalmer – The Golden City

Train to Jaisalmer - Sunset shoot at the Cenotaphs – Sunrise shoot of Jaisalmer Fort – Camel trip to shoot sunset at Khuri sand dunes – overnight Khuri Oasis Desert Resort – Sunrise dune shoot - To Chandelao Garh Heritage Hotel.

Day 8                Chandelao Garh Desert Heritage Hotel

Two nights in the Chandelao Garh Desert Heritage Hotel – shoot local  tribes in traditional settings and desert landscapes.

Day 9-12           Pushkar

Four days of the amazing annual camel and livestock fair – Dawn and dusk shoots – Shoot people waring colourful turbans and sari’s – Shoot the trading of Camels, Horses, Sheep, Cows – Shoot Fire dancers and jugglers – shoot the amazing Pushkar lake and desert landscapes.

Day 13-14          Jaipur – The Pink City

Travel to Jaipur – Afternoon city walk – Dusk at Amber Fort - Maharaja’s City Palace - Palace of the Winds - Jai Singh’s Astrological Observatory.

Day 15               Delhi

Morning in Jaipur – Train to Delhi – Farewell Dinner and slideshow.

Day 16               Depart

Depart filled with wonderful memories and images.

Varanasi/Agra Extension

Day 16-18           Varanasi

Morning flight to Varanasi - Explore the Ghats on the Ganges - Dawn and dusk boat trips - Visit Buddha’s sacred site of Sarnath.

Day 19-20           Agra

Fly to Agra - Agra Fort – dusk and dawn shoots at the Taj Mahal.

Day 21                Delhi

Dawn shoot at the Taj Mahal - Return to Delhi by train.

Day 22                Depart

Depart filled with wonderful memories and images.

Photography Equipment List 

Camera: SLR Digital Camera ( Nikon, Canon) or Compact ( Sony A7, Fuji x-series, Olympus Micro 4/3)

Lenses: Full Frame SLR 

  • 50mm f1.4 (a must for low light shooting)
  • 24-70 f2.8  (perfect for festivals and street photography)
  • 70-200 f2.8 (a versatile fast zoom)
  • Option: Replace the above two with a 28-300 f3.5-5.6 for one versatile lens
  • Optional extra: 16-35 f4 (particularly for landscapes).
  • Note: If using a cropped sensor camera remember your lenses will be magnified by about 1.5 times. e.g. a 35mm lens on a cropped sensor body is roughly equivalent to a 50mm lens on a full frame body.

Bag:

  • A versatile camera back pack is preferable to a sling or standard camera bag (Recommended: Lowe Pro Flipside 300 or 400)
